Editorial Reviews

Product Description
Like its predecessor, Shalom Aleychem , this book is geared to a crash course of twelve weekly two-hour classes instructed by lay teachers. Ayn Keloheynu not only successfully conveys the meaning of key Sabbath morning prayers and laymen with a heighted familiarization with synagogue procedures and ritual expressions. Illustrated.

Excellent post-beginner guide...

It's hard to find "learning prayerbook Hebrew" books written for adults, and Golinkin's book fills the bill most capably. It doesn't condescend, and at an unintimidating pace provides a gradual introduction to phrases and prayers heard in almost any synagogue.

For those who strictly want to read Hebrew (Golinkin's texts don't cover Hebrew writing at all) and master a few basic prayers, this book is a terrific starting point.

Ayn Keloheynu is a wonderful and logical stepping stone to understanding the beautiful prayers sung on Shabbas morning. The book is very user friendly, and helpful for beginners - as well as useful for people who already know their way around the siddur.
